Erosion, weed eradication
Soil Erosion and land degradation are matters of critical importance, especially within the rural and/or green wedge areas of the Shire.
PALs wish to constructively work with genuine council officers to ensure a mutually beneficial partnership going forward.
Addressing the above issues is of primary importance to landowners and can be successfully resolved with a multi-faceted approach but each consistently reliant on stabilising the landscape. This can be achieved through sound, best practice pasture management just as it can be achieved, where appropriate, with sensible and appropriate vegetation planting.
Weed eradication also factors into the above issues. PALs encourage all landowners, including suburban landowners, to actively and consistently tackle the spread of weeds across their respective landscapes. We all benefit from a landscape that delivers a weed free environment and allows pastures to thrive and deliver good financial returns for those dependent upon the use or sale of pasture products.

Nillumbik landscapes
The overriding pleasure that locals, visitors and tourists all enjoy within the Nillumbik landscape is the wonderful mixture of rolling farmland and rural enterprises combined with the ever increasing texture of trees and understorey vegetation.
The true value of the Nillumbik Green Wedge lies in the retention of those combined vistas. Farmland vistas and the wonderful visual enjoyment of rolling vineyards and olive groves combined with the peace and tranquillity of grazing enterprises interspersed with the healthy stands of native vegetation all contribute to this magic place in which we live.
This is what PALs believe is the essence of the Green Wedge and it is what we wish to preserve for our children and future generations.
